  149. I have just returned to the UK after visiting the MUFON Conference
  150.  
  151. in Chicago. There was much debate about crop circles, particularly
  152.  
  153. circles from the UK, at the Conference so I thought I would send 
  154.  
  155. a brief update on what appears to be happening.
  156.  
  157.  
  158.  
  159. First thing is that there appear to be a higher proportion of hoaxes
  160.  
  161. this year, presumably following extensive media exposure of the subject
  162.  
  163. last year.
  164.  
  165.  
  166.  
  167. There were few reports in the early part of the year, maybe only a
  168.  
  169. couple of dozen. About the time of the MUFON conference the number
  170.  
  171. of reports began to pick up. At the conference Colin Andrews said
  172.  
  173. he understood that the number of new reports had reached about 15
  174.  
  175. per day (similar to the peak rate last year). It appears, however,
  176.  
  177. that the rate has reached two or three per day (i.e. 15 in the
  178.  
  179. five days Colin had been away from home - perhaps he misunderstood 
  180.  
  181. the message or he knows about many more reports than the other
  182.  
  183. circles researchers).

  187. There appear to be fewer single circles this year. Paul Fuller
  188.  
  189. told me that there were quite a few 'dumbell' formations, two
  190.  
  191. circles connected by a spur. Some people are classifying these
  192.  
  193. as pictograms although personally I would resrict such a name
  194.  
  195. to the more complex formations with several circles joined by
  196.  
  197. spurs and with multiple extended features such as combs. Paul
  198.  
  199. told me there were also more of these complex pictograms as
  200.  
  201. well.
  202.

  205. There are at least two reports from the Midlands, these tend
  206.  
  207. to be much rarer than further south. The first was a 65 feet
  208.  
  209. wide circle found in oil seed rape (in the US known as something
  210.  
  211. like swagname grass??? - woody stemed plant with bright yellow
  212.  
  213. flowers with very oily seeds) near Market Harborough. This was
  214.  
  215. found in the first week of June.
  216.

  219. The second circle was found near Wellingborough in Northamptonshire
  220.  
  221. last week, but I have no more information as yet.

  225. Incidentally, Mike Chorost presented some very interesting material
  226.  
  227. at the MUFON Conference about the apparent reduction of soil obtained
  228.  
  229. from a circles sites. As Mike admitted, it was only from two circles
  230.  
  231. so much more work will need to be done. It is possible that one circle
  232.  
  233. was from Tennesse on 17th May 91, but I am not sure on that. The 
  234.  
  235. reduction effect was detected by measuring a lowering of the alpha
  236.  
  237. radiation from the soil. Since alpha particles are helium nuclei, Mike
  238.  
  239. suggests that electron have been added to the soil thereby neutalising
  240.  
  241. the alpha particles (at least that's what I understood him to say). 
  242.  
  243. This might suggest some mechanism like the charged vortex that Terence
  244.  
  245. Meaden has been proposing is at work. I think it is too early to
  246.  
  247. discount the other theories of circle formation, but this could look
  248.  
  249. good for Meaden's theory.

  295. involving a police officer in Yorkshire by the name of Alan Godfrey. I

  456.  
  457. reports that Len Stringfield has published about Graylien 
  458.  
  459. anatomy:  no digestive system, no sex organs, etc.  It's an

  461. interesting idea.  Come to think of it, nobody ever said that 
  462.  
  463. they found a toilet seat in the Roswell debris, did they?

  829. Tonite  ( July 24, 1991 ) on CNN, it was announce that British Astronomer 
  830.  
  831. Andrew Lyne, using the Gordell Buck radiotelescope in Cheshire, England, UK 
  832.  
  833. discovered the first known planet outside of our solar system.

  837. CNN reported that Lyne stated that the planet was approx. 10 X larger than 
  838.  
  839. Earth, and is in a 6 month orbit around a Pulsar about 30 Light Years from us.

  841. He also was reported as stating that "scientists agree that chances of life

  843. out there are pretty good."

  848.

  1311. mention anywhere. No problem with that because I have moved on to better things
  1312.  
  1313. as a lot of others have done.    We must ALL start working together for the
  1314.  
  1315. common cause and not let our personal feelings or ambitions get in the way. I

  1317. really don't care if aperson belongs to MUFON, CUFOS or any other organization.

  1319. What I'm interestedin is what they have found in their research and

  1321. investigations. If this person or organization feels that its needs to keep

  1335. others. And if use the philosophy "seek and you will find" then you will find.
